'BLAMING ME, BLAMING YOU'
“In front of the lens, I am at the same time; the one I think I am, the one I want others to think I am, the one the photographer thinks I am, and the one he makes use of to exhibit his art.”
Roland Barthes
The portrait-photograph is a strange subject. Whenever I am looking at one or taking part in one, I always get this sensation of in-authenticity.
By not letting me, or my subject have the usual control of the outcome, I attempt to tell the truth.
When attempting what seems to be impossible, you might be surprised.
'Blaming me, blaming you' won The 2008 Royal Scottish Academy Chalmers Bursary prize.
